Miriam Lower School

Join a school community where learning differences aren’t so different.

At Miriam, we understand the value of early intervention. We know that when a student feels confident and their body is calm, that’s when the magic happens. Their brains are open for learning, they learn how to navigate social situations, and they feel successful - sometimes for the first time ever.

Small by design
Miriam’s youngest students attend school at our Webster Groves Campus. To ensure that every child is truly seen, our K-6 students work in mixed-grade classrooms of no more than 10 students. Therapists, teaching assistants, and our counselor work alongside our teachers, forming a cohesive team.

Learning how to learn
The whole-body education at Miriam is intentional and explicit. Students aren’t just learning to read, write and add - they’re learning how to learn. They’re discovering how to be part of a community where they feel supported, while also learning how to support their peers.

Regulation comes first
Through our twice-daily sensory diet, students learn to identify and seek the input their bodies need to stay regulated. Whether it’s asking for extra help or requesting a quick lap around the hall, we empower our students to understand their own needs. At Miriam, self-advocacy isn't a buzzword - it’s a daily practice.

The results
Miriam Lower School is a building filled with joy, where we celebrate every "aha" moment that occurs when a child finally feels safe enough to take a risk. Here, your child isn't defined by their challenges; they are celebrated for their strengths.
