Lower/Middle School 
Miriam School is committed to creating well-rounded students who are able to use established and emerging technology in innovative and creative ways. The demands of a 21st century society require students to not just remember or understand a concept, but to analyze, evaluate and create new products and points of view.

With the introduction of interactive whiteboards, updated classroom computers, iPads and Audio Enhancement Systems in each classroom, we are able to provide eBooks, audiobooks, recording devices and cameras that allow students to learn and share knowledge in ways that are suited to their particular learning style.

Through the generosity of former Miriam board member Morrie Zimring and his wife, Miki, our 1:1 iPad program gives our students an opportunity to learn the essential skills needed to be successful in a technology-filled world.   Along with the laptops from our mobile computer lab and dedicated Chrome books for our middle school students, these devices allow the children to participate in projects that focus on communication, collaboration, critical thinking and creativity.

Technology use at Miriam School is aimed at ensuring that students can:

• Use basic keyboarding skills
• Use software programs to review and reinforce concepts from direct instruction
• Use basic programs including word processing, presentations and spreadsheets
• Use technology to gather research and collect data
• Illustrate and communicate original ideas and stories using digital tools and media-rich resources
• Identify and utilize the correct technology tools to accomplish a variety of tasks and to solve problems
• Identify technology tools that match their learning style
• Demonstrate the safe and cooperative use of technology
• Use the internet as a personal learning tool
• Develop and apply strategies for identifying and solving routine hardware and software problems

High School
The High School provides a learning environment in which a variety of technological tools are routinely utilized in courses. All students have 1:1 access to laptops and use these tools regularly for practice of key skills and content, research, projects production and online communication and collaboration with peers and teachers.

Technology is used for “Flipped Classroom” instructional design, which enables teachers to record mini lessons for students to preview prior to classroom lessons. Miriam High School also has a variety of online programs and software available for student learning. Additionally, technology access enables students the ability to enroll in online courses outside of the High School standard curriculum. Currently, “Odysseyware” is the program Miriam High School uses for online courses.
