Miriam School is committed to supporting families in their goal to educate students with unique learning needs. Variable Tuition Program
Variable tuition is Miriam School’s need-based financial assistance program. Reductions in tuition costs are given on a first come first served basis to newly accepted and re-enrolling families – based on available funds. Application and acceptance into the school program is a prerequisite to receiving individual variable tuition information and new families should contact our Admissions Office to begin the process. Following an online financial application and review of tax and financial documents, your family’s tuition rate is set within the annual range established by our Board of Trustees based on your unique financial position. Once a family enrolls, parents are also offered convenient payment plan options to control the timing and distribution of their tuition payments throughout the school year. Variable tuition is applied for annually and is typically awarded to families making less than $200,000 in income.
- More than 60% of families received tuition assistance through the Variable Tuition program for the 2022-23 academic year.
- Miriam awarded over $2.2 million in Variable Tuition reductions in 2022-23.
MOScholars Grants
The MOScholars K-12 program was established by the state of Missouri in 2021 to provide scholarships up to $6,375 for eligible families, allowing them to seek an array of alternative educational services ranging from private schools to therapeutic services. Miriam partners with the Today and Tomorrow Educational Fund who provides these scholarship funds to our eligible students. Students must live in St. Louis City, St. Louis County, St. Charles County, or Jefferson County and can qualify to receive these funds in two ways:
- A student is income eligible and has attended public school for at least one semester in the past 12 months.
- Any student regardless of income, who has a current IEP issued in the last 36 months from their public school district.

MOST 529 Accounts
Typically used for college expenses, the MOST 529 tuition savings program was expanded in 2018 to allow families to save and use funds in their accounts towards tuition costs for grades K-12. Families can contribute up to $16,000 ($8,000 for a single filer) to a state run investment account and deduct any contributions from their Missouri taxes. These investments grow tax-free over time and up to $10,000 per calendar year can be used toward tuition costs at private K-12 schools. Contact your tax advisor for more information.
