Transitioning to high school, vocational training, college, or a job after graduation can be stressful and sometimes lonely. MLC’s Young Adult Services (YAS) gives members, ages 16-25, a place to feel academically, socially, and emotionally supported during their new venture.
After enrolling in YAS, for one monthly fee, members can drop in any time from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Miriam Academy to participate in these included services:
- In-person help with online college course
- In-person and Zoom homework help
- Organized recreational & sports activities
- Fun monthly community outings**
- Supported volunteer opportunities
- Open gym time and free coffee bar
- Video gaming, ping pong, foosball
- Relaxation area to hang with friends
Any person, age 16 to 25, who wants support and who can independently and successfully participate in services, can join YAS.
YAS is a year-round membership program, similar to a gym membership. Young adults join YAS for a reasonable monthly fee (6-month minimum commitment) and they can access any and all services. There is no joining fee. Members decide when they want to attend and what they want to do.
They also have access to expert and caring staff including licensed counselors, special education and content certified teachers, and other professionals who can help build supports for success.
Members have a supportive environment to meet friends, finish homework, play basketball or video games or just drink coffee, relax, and converse with peers.
Miriam Learning Center provides services to over 1100 children, adolescents and young adults each year. Our expertise can help participants “Live their potential”. Call to visit our program.
A new activity will be emailed to members each month.

YAS is a supportive, fun and safe place for members to feel like they belong and are supported by staff who really understand them. Included in the affordable monthly membership fee is unlimited access to various groups and activities including homework help provided by certified teachers, assistance with organizational skills, social skills training and self-enhancement groups, supervised recreational and sports activities, career exploration groups, open gym and game room access, a lounge for hanging out with friends and a free coffee bar. Group services change weekly to keep them relevant and exciting.
Members are between the age of 16-25 (high school to one-year post college graduation). Members are individuals who require academic, social, and/or emotional support to be successful in whatever they are currently doing. YAS members must be able to independently participate in YAS and exhibit skills that do not interfere with others participating.
For young adults who have not decided what they want to do as they get older, YAS helps members figure out their place in the world. It provides ongoing assistance during their indecision and gets them on the right pathway. For others, YAS provides a variety of specialized support services in one location so members can be successful during school, work, or vocational training. YAS also helps recent college graduates stay supported and focused until they are employed. For everyone, YAS is a great place to meet new friends, stay engaged with peers, and work with professionals committed to their success.
