Miriam School and Learning Center, is pleased to announce the hiring of Vicki Thurman as High School Principal.
Mrs. Thurman will come to Miriam on July 3, 2023, with more than 22 years of experience working in both public and private schools to educate and support students with learning differences.
Mrs. Thurman currently works at MICDS as Director of Student Support Services. In this role, she serves as a member of the Academic Leadership Team.
“I am so excited to welcome Vicki to our Miriam family,” said Meg Bamford, head of Miriam School and Learning Center. “It was clear from the moment I met her, the wonderful talent, experience, care, and commitment to helping change the trajectory of students’ lives that she will bring to Miriam High School. I feel lucky to be able to partner with her on the many good things to come for our high school students.”
“I am truly honored to have been selected to lead Miriam High School starting next school year,” Mrs. Thurman said. “From my first conversation with Meg in January, through the final round of interviews, I have grown ever more excited about the opportunity to join the Miriam community and deepen the great work already underway to meet each student’s needs as a full learner.”
Mrs. Thurman started her career as a school psychologist, working for the Belleville Area Special Services Cooperative and in the Pattonville School District, before joining the MICDS team in 2006. Her previous roles at MICDS have included Coordinator of Learning Support Services and Lower School Learning Specialist/Counselor.
Mrs. Thurman holds a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from Southeast Missouri State University, and a Master of Science degree in community psychology with a specialist in school psychology from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville.
