Miriam Academy accepts applications and admits qualified students on a rolling basis throughout the school year. If you believe our school matches the needs of your child, please email Sue Jackson at email@example.com or call 314 962-6080 to learn more or begin the application process. We look forward to speaking with you about your student’s needs and learning style and exploring if there is a fit in the Miriam Academy community.
1. Schedule a Tour
A telephone interview with our team establishes for both the parent and school that the child’s needs are compatible with the school’s mission. Parents then schedule a tour to see our classrooms in person and receive detailed knowledge about our program. After the tour an application packet is reviewed with parents who wish to apply. Applications may be made at any time; however, due to limited enrollment, applying early is advised.
Families are also welcome to attend one of our Open House events (see calendar).
2. Submit an application
Applications will be considered once they are complete with the following information:
- Completed Miriam Academy application
- Signed intake release form
- Current educational, psychological and/or neurological evaluations that include intelligence, achievement and emotional/behavioral assessment
- Most recent academic report card
- $65 non-refundable application fee
- A current photo of your child
3. The Student Visit
Upon receipt of the above information, the staff will review the submitted materials. Applicants are considered without regard to race, sex, age, religion, or ethnic origin. After the admissions committee reviews the application and determines that Miriam Academy might be an option for the potential student, that student will be invited to visit the school for one-half or a full day in our classroom environment. The visit includes participation in class activities, lunch, and informal observation by our staff. This time allows the student to experience our school environment and allows our admissions team and faculty to observe a child’s learning style.
4. Committee Review
Acceptance to Miriam Academy is on a rolling basis. After a prospective student has visited the school, teachers and administrators will determine whether the school would meet the applicant’s needs. If the school has space and it is determined that our program could meet a student’s needs, an offer for acceptance will be made. Miriam Academy’s specialized methods of instruction serve students whose diagnoses fall within the mission of the school. All applicants are assessed individually by gathering feedback from many perspectives and reviewing diagnostic information. Although families feel that Miriam Academy may be the best place for the student, the student’s profile may not be the best fit for Miriam Academy. If our program is not an appropriate placement for your child, you will be notified by the Head of School. Whenever possible we will try to make suggestions regarding other school options that might be pursued.
5. Variable Tuition Process
Miriam Academy is committed to meeting the needs of students who benefit from our programs. Admission decisions are made independent of financial need and no Miriam family pays the full cost of educating their student. Our variable tuition plan matches a family’s tuition rate with their unique financial position. Watch a brief explanation below or for more about the program, visit our Variable Tuition page.
