Thank you for visiting the website for Miriam Academy! Our high school offers a challenging academic curriculum, with support in OT, speech, language, and counseling therapy, along with a reading/learning strategies course to support skill development. Everything we do at Miriam Academy is designed to help our students excel.
We’ve had an exciting four years at Miriam Academy! The students submitted a proposal to the NASA Ames Space Settlement contest after four months of intensive research about establishing a community in space. Students learned about growing food, water sources, and atmosphere to sustain life forms, as well as establishing government, educational institutions, and living quarters.
Our Robotics Club began with just 16 students learning and now is open to all of our 63 students to join.
Our students have produced a newspaper, both in paper form and online, called “Echo”. You may view it on this site under the ‘Students’ tab. Other past experiences included: a train trip to Washington, MO to visit a trading post, attending the Symphony, and visiting the Wildbird Rescue Center, Wolf Howl, Third Degree Glass studio, the Holocaust Museum, and Cardinals Baseball games. We visited Ranken Technical College, Meramec, and University of Missouri St. Louis (UMSL) our first year. Last year, we visited Webster University, Maryville University, Fontbonne University, and Ranken Technical College again. We hope to prepare our students for post-secondary plans early in their high school years by continuing to visit Lindenwood, Southeast Missouri State University, Forest Park Community College, Missouri State University and St. Charles Community College.
We played in a co-ed basketball league at the JCC. We also continued our Miriam Magic baseball team as a member of MSHSAA and participated in the Ballwin Athletic Association league again. We added chess club and bowling to our activities this year.
During the month of June, our students have the option to gain valuable work experience by working at our Miriam Switching Post or through a variety of internships such as: the JCC summer camps, Great Harvest Bread, the Salon at 1131 Bellevue, Kirkwood Parks and Recreation or STLArtWorks. Our 11-month academic program provides students the opportunity to extend their learning while practicing their social skills.
