Empowering Unique Learners

Tutoring Services

We understand that one size does not fit all when it comes to specialized tutoring support for your child’s educational needs. Serving families in St. Louis City, St. Louis County, and St. Charles County, we customize our tutoring to accommodate each child’s unique learning style and strengths.

Established in 2007, Miriam Learning Center helps thousands of students each year reach their academic potential through specialized educational support services. When your child is struggling with academics and requires a specialist to learn, reaching out to Miriam Learning Center’s tutoring program is a great step. Located in St. Louis county and St. Charles county, we are specialized tutors who help children learn! Although we see many children who have a learning disability such as Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, and Dysgraphia, and language disorders, Autism, or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD/ADD), students do not need to have a diagnosis to benefit from Miriam’s expert tutoring services. Children age 5 to 18 benefit from our tutoring program.

Expert Tutors

Your child’s education is most important, and having a non-certified tutor can be risky and may not result in skill progression. Every Miriam Learning Center tutor holds a Missouri special education or reading teacher certification.  These certifications ensure that our staff have the expert skills needed to teach students who learn differently and to help them progress.

Individualized Instruction

Some tutoring programs only offer one standard program for everyone, regardless of each child’s unique situation. A one-size-fits-all program can leave students who learn differently feeling frustrated, which can result in a lack of progress. Our staff believe that only individualized interventions can meet the specific needs of each student. We use a wide variety of research-based multisensory approaches that tap directly into a child’s learning style. Our certified tutors are able to decipher why children are not learning and then provide a customized treatment pathway to help them learn skills such as phonics, reading fluency, and reading comprehension; grammar, spelling and writing composition; math calculations, accuracy and fluency; and organizational and study skills.

Louis was nervous about seeing a tutor and kind of dreaded it, at the end of every meet up he would say that the experience was great and he really liked his tutor. His teachers noticed a vast improvement in his work and his preparedness for tests and projects. He went from a C student to almost straight A's. And actually looked forward to his tutoring sessions.

Tutoring That Works for You

We understand that families are busy and time is at a premium. Therefore, to accommodate your family’s busy schedule, you determine how many 50-minute weekly tutoring sessions your child receives. We will assign your child a private tutor, and you pick the same weekly tutoring day and time that is most convenient. Enrollment in tutoring is open ended and without any contracts. You decide when to start and finish tutoring.

Multiple Locations

To save travel time, we offer multiple locations for tutoring. We have a Center in Webster Groves, and our tutors provide instruction at several libraries in West St. Louis County and St. Charles County. If allowed, we can provide tutoring at your child’s private, independent, or parochial school. We also offer after school and early evening tutoring, and have remote or virtual tutoring option if you prefer tutoring from your home.

Progress Updates

Parent involvement in tutoring is very important. The assigned tutor will work with you to understand your goals for your child. The tutor will set measurable objectives and will monitor progress. He or she will discuss progress and strategies with you the last five minutes of each session. When we provide services at schools, the tutor will email progress updates at least monthly. You are always welcome to email the tutor for more frequent updates.
