After 15 years leading the Miriam Foundation, Andy Thorp will step down as Executive Director at the end of December.
When he first joined Miriam, Andy was excited about the potential he saw for growth within the organization. He turned that potential into reality, first establishing the Miriam Learning Center, which now serves 1,000 area students through tutoring, in-school support, therapies and counseling.
Under Andy’s leadership, Miriam completed a $10 million Learning to Succeed campaign to build the middle school addition at Miriam School and launch Miriam Academy. He led the search for the Academy’s permanent home. And most recently, he has overseen the Building on Success campaign, which has to date raised $5 million of its $8 million goal.
Through all the change, Andy says one thing has remained consistent: “Miriam provides a great service to its students and makes a difference in the lives of those
students’ families.”
He says, “I’ve had the privilege to work with remarkably committed volunteers and board members and observe the stellar quality of our faculty and staff; without their expertise and commitment, Miriam would not exist.”
The Miriam Board of Directors is celebrating Andy’s legacy by establishing the Andrew Thorp Endowed Scholarship Fund.
“I am so touched that the Miriam Board wanted to honor my contributions in perpetuity. I understand how important Miriam’s endowment is to its long term sustainability and our ongoing need to make the Miriam education more financially accessible to families.”

What will Andy miss most? “I will miss the people. The relationships I have built over 15 years are very important to me.”
