Who are Miriam students?

Miriam School serves students in kindergarten through 12th grade who have complex learning needs and benefit from a personalized, supportive educational environment.
Our students are capable of learning in a classroom setting without 1:1 assistance, but may require small class sizes, targeted interventions, and a multidisciplinary team to fully access the curriculum and reach their potential academically, socially and emotionally.
Miriam is able to support a wide range of student profiles. While diagnoses and accommodations may differ, what all Miriam students share is the need for a school that understands how they learn best.
Our students thrive when:
- They are part of a structured, yet flexible classroom with built-in supports
- They receive personalized instruction that matches their learning profile
- They can interact and learn alongside peers, with guidance when needed
- Their emotional and sensory needs are understood and supported
Miriam students come from a variety of backgrounds and often face challenges such as learning disabilities, anxiety, ADHD, speech and language disorders, sensory processing disorder, and autism (generally diagnosed as level 1/mild).
Miriam School is not equipped to meet the needs of students who need medical care throughout the school day (aside from oral medications), are nonverbal, are not independent with toileting and other personal hygiene, or have significant behaviors that could create an unsafe environment.
