Admissions Process

Our Admissions Team would love to hear more about your child’s learning profile to better understand if Miriam may be an option for them.

Schedule a thirty-minute initial conversation by phone or Zoom, available both mornings and afternoons on weekdays. Our Admissions Team will then reach out to you directly with a list of available times.

Following an initial conversation, prospective parents will be emailed an application for admission along with release forms which should be completed and emailed to our office along with supporting documentation. 

In the event our committee needs more information, we may request a conversation with a child’s teachers or clarify details with parents. Applications are being accepted via email and considered completed when the following documents have been received:

• School Application (provided)
• Intake Release Form (provided)
• Special School District Release Form (if applicable; provided)
• A copy of your child’s last two years of diagnostic/educational evaluations – educational and medical
• A copy of your child’s last two years of IEP documents
• A copy of your child’s last two years of report cards or their unofficial transcript (High School only)
• A non-refundable $75 application fee

Upon receipt of the application information, the Admissions Committee will review the submitted materials. 

Applicants are considered without regard to race, sex, age, religion, or ethnic origin and applicants are assessed individually by gathering feedback from many perspectives and reviewing diagnostic information.

Following this review, the next steps in the admissions process may vary.

• Students may be offered acceptance based on their written application alone without additional assessment.  Families can then schedule a tour to see the school before making their enrollment decision.
• Students may be asked to attend a one or two day visit at school or summer camp.  The visit includes participation in class activities, lunch, recess, and informal observation by our staff. This time allows the student to experience our school environment and allows our admissions team and faculty to observe a child’s learning style.

Student Shadow Visits 

For prospective students, we offer the chance to spend a day shadowing our school. This experience allows your child to get a feel for our community, participate in classes, and meet potential new friends.

Acceptance to Miriam is on a rolling basis. 

After review of an application and a student visit to the school, if required, an offer for acceptance may be made by the Director of Admissions. Should classes be full, the child will be placed in a waiting pool for the next available space in an appropriate classroom.

Miriam's specialized methods of instruction serve students whose diagnoses fall within the mission of the school very well. All applicants are assessed individually by gathering feedback from many perspectives and reviewing diagnostic information.

Not all students will find their best fit at Miriam. If our program is not an appropriate placement for your child, you will be notified by the Director of Admissions. Whenever possible, we will try to make suggestions regarding other school options that might be pursued.
