A Message from the Head of School, Meg Bamford - June 2025
Meg Bamford | Head of Miriam School and Learning Center

Dear Miriam Community,

Another incredible school year has come to a close, and I would like to take a moment to reflect on the joy, progress, and growth we’ve witnessed in our students—and to express my sincere gratitude to all of you who have been part of this journey.

With our students officially on summer break, the hallways are a little quieter, but the spirit of Miriam is still buzzing with energy. This year, we witnessed powerful moments of learning, connection, and personal growth. Our students stretched themselves, found confidence in their abilities, and made meaningful progress. Their achievements are a testament to their perseverance, your support, and the dedication of our staff.

Even as the school year closes, exciting things continue to bloom—literally and figuratively. Our Sensory Garden is making wonderful progress and is already becoming the beautiful, calming space we envisioned—a space that will nurture exploration, peace, and self-regulation for years to come.

Meanwhile, our Learning Center’s Summer Camp is in full swing! It’s a joy to see students engaged in hands-on activities, building new skills, and connecting with peers in a supportive, creative environment. The energy and enthusiasm of our campers and staff are a wonderful reminder that learning never stops—it simply takes new forms.

On behalf of the entire team at Miriam, we are honored to partner with you in helping each student discover their strengths and reach their potential.

We hope your family finds time for rest, adventure, and connection this summer.

Meg Bamford, Head of Miriam School and Learning Center

Today I was reminded of the lasting connections cast here when I had the privilege of giving one of our alumni, Isaac, and his father a tour of our Lower/Middle School Campus. Isaac is now considering a career in special education and is seeking a volunteer opportunity with us.

After nearly seven decades, Miriam Switching Post is closing for a hiatus

For nearly 70 years, Miriam Switching Post has been a staple in St. Louis’ resale market, offering upscale furniture, home decor, collectibles, art, and jewelry. Driven by donations and volunteers, the shop’s profits provide financial assistance to families who attend Miriam School, a school for students with learning differences.

In the News: Navigating new routines during back-to-school season

Often, returning to a school year routine can be an adjustment for students, something parents can begin preparing for in the weeks prior to the school year beginning.

“It’s really a good idea to sit with your child and make a check-list for their morning routine,” said Meg Bamford of Miriam School and Learning Center. “What are the things you need to do on their own to get ready in the morning?”
