Discovery camps blend academics with recreation and are packed with thematic, hands-on learning opportunities meant to bridge the gap between school years for students with learning disabilities. Within a small and supportive environment, students actively participate in the planning, design, and development of activities around each session’s theme. This process is guided by our special education instructors, and promotes intellectual curiosity, collaboration, authentic engagement, and self-confidence. Discovery campers spend their summer designing solutions for real-world practical applications and developing the skills they need to become successful self-advocates and lifelong learners. Students must demonstrate average to above average cognitive ability, be toilet trained, be free from primary emotional and behavioral concerns, and benefit from a 10:2 camper to staff ratio. Discovery camps run Monday through Friday from 8:30 am – 3:00 pm with extended care available until 5:00 pm.
